Fiona and Aïda

Fiona and Aïda

My full name is...
Fiona Godivier.

But my friends call me...
Fio / fifi / fi.

I live with...
My daughter Aïda and my dog Lucy.

I grew up...
In Paris.

My cultural background is...
My mom is from South America, Chile where I also lived when I was a teenager and my dad is French from Auvergne in the countryside where I spend a lot of times.

Aïda Pye’s name came from...
Aïda is from Verdi Opera and Pye from her dad’s great grandmother from England.

You will usually find me...
At home in Paris in the Marais or in the countryside in Auvergne.

My ideal morning...
To wake up in the countryside in the summer with Aïda in my bed.

Before becoming a mother, I was...
Traveling a lot for my work or because I always liked to be on the move and discover new places around the world.

Right now I am...
Settled in Paris working on a feature film, and with Aïda learning every day from her about what it means to be a mom - and I love it.

I first discovered film...
As a child with a video tape that my dad recorded for my sister and I.
I think the first movie I saw over and over until the videotape was too damaged to be used anymore was The Beast and the Beauty by Jean Cocteau.

Film is for me...
A way of expressing myself with the tools I know, photography and telling stories, working with music and sound to create a visual universe that hopefully will make the viewer feel something or question themselves.

What drives me...
Today is my baby Aïda Pye.

For inspiration I turn to...
Cinema of course, art and photography, but mostly documentary. And reading about everything - at the moment I’m getting myself into philosophy which I never did before.

I think the first year Aïda was born it was pretty hard to have any interest in anything else other than her and breast-feeding, but now I’m getting back in and feeling inspired differently.

Three words that describe me are...
This is hard, even impossible. I don't think 3 words will be enough haha.

I realised I’m exactly where I need to be when...
I fell asleep with Aïda. It's unconditional love. And I don’t want to be anywhere else.

I am where I am today because...
It is where I was born and grew up and where I belong. I love my city. And my family is also around and that is very helpful with a baby haha.

I find comfort in...
Going on a big walk in the countryside.

I treasure...
Motherhood and every moment with my daughter that will only happen once.

I have fun...
Surrounded by my friends.

I crave...

Traveling around the world.

I feel womanly when...
I dress up!

My favourite thing to listen to is...
At the moment I’m obsessed with T. rex and JJ Cale.

The scent of home is...
Aïda’s smell!!! She smells like a little brioche.

Something people don’t know about me...
It’s a secret not be revealed.

My favourite body part is...
Hands and lips.

My favourite snack is...
Crepe au chocolat.

My favourite childhood memory...
Traveling with my parents and my sister. I have amazing memories of different travels around the world all together.

I am looking forward to…
To see her growing and share more and more with her.
